Composition

Composition is the combining of distinct parts or elements to form a whole. Before taking a picture, you should consider what you want your viewers to see in the photo.

In this photo, I was trying to compose a shot of the panaramic view of the mountains towards Ludlow VT. When I zoomed in to get a better picture, it focused in on the grass on the side of the road and blurred the view of the mountains. The next good day for weather, I will try again to compose a panarama view of the same mountains.

Mt Ascutney with the tip cut off due to the clouds that were settleing in. The below picture is a cropped version of the same pictures, showing a better picture of the clouds that had settled in.

Foggy drive to work

Heading to work on a foggy morning at 7:10 am. Going into the fog on I91 south with my camera white balance setting to cloudy. I was hoping for a car to be coming from the other direction. You can just barely see a car with its headlights right at the edge of the left hand side of the picture.

DJ my 25 year Morgan

Posted by PicasaThis is DJ, he was hangen with his friends on the only sunny afternoon we had last week. This picture is taken between 10 and 2:00 pm and the white balance was set to daylight. The sun was to the left of me slightly and he was not in the shade. His face came out to bright and doesn't appear to be good color. I used the softening setting in picasa to try and bring out his face a little more. I like the way the picture came out, but wish that I had taken the picture with the sun to my back.

Macro Collage of Flowers

Flowers taken in Macro done as a collage.
This is one of my favorite.
I love the way the background is blurred and just the flower is crisp and clear.

Both these photos are of a fountain at the Perkins School for the Blind. I thought it was kind of neat whent he wind started to blow causing the bubble of water on the top of the fountain to fan out.
